The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder Book Review

The Snowball recounts the life and times of Warren Buffett. The legendary Omaha investor has never written a memoir, but now he has allowed one writer, Alice Schroeder, unprecedented access to explore directly with him and with those closest to him his work, opinions, struggles, triumphs, follies, and wisdom. The result is the personally revealing and complete biography of the man known everywhere as “The Oracle of Omaha.”

One of the many things I love about this book is how Alice gets behind the eyes of Warren and attempts to reveal how he mulls over investment ideas. Many of his early successes are revealed in this book. For extra nerd points, you can actually cross-reference this book with many of the Buffett Partnership letters (1950's) where he talks about an investment he is making, but does not reveal it by name in the letters.

Alice goes to great length to detail Warren's personal relationships in this book. Those details are the key to Warren's personality and his worldview.

If you are an investing nerd, you must have this book in your collection! No Buffett collection is complete without it.
