Contrarian Investing Strategies: The Next Generation by David Dreman Book Review

Have you always wanted to see into the brain of a contrarian investor and discover what makes him/her different? Look no further than this amazing book by David Dreman, the contrarian investor.

Contrarian Investing Strategies is chock full of investing wisdom and...you know what...I was just inspired to read it again while I was typing this up!

There are five parts to this treatise on contrarian investing as I describe below.

Part 1 is about why current methods of investing don't work. It covers a number of modern misconceptions about making money in the stock market, including the prolific delusion of technical analysis.

Part II is about the expert way to lose your savings and covers topics like the problem with forecasts, booms and busts, growth investing and other nasty surprises.

Part III is about the world of contrarian investing and discusses how to view the world upside down, getting to the truth of the matter, strategies for portfolio profits and much more. This chapter alone is worth the cost of the book.

Part IV is about investing in the 21st century and covers aspects of investing that have changed and have either been made easier, harder, or obsolete. It also covers the key topic of investing during a panic.

Part V is about psychology and markets and discusses the key concepts of the madness of crowds, manias, and how crowd thinking creates opportunities for contrarian investors.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get further away from the crowd and be in position to take advantage of mass delusions, group think, and profit from it.
